Meet the guide in the morning and drive to Spilimbergo to visit the prestigious Mosaic School founded in 1922 with traditions of Friulian mosaicists that since 1500 have to lead the way in mosaic art: from the Congress Library in Washington to Canberra War Memorial, to work accomplished at the Opera in Paris. Lunch at a prestigious Prosciutto di San Daniele producer and enjoy a guided tour of this world-renowned Friulian speciality.
Visit the city of San Daniele del Friuli, where you will be guided to the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate. The church contains an inestimable frescoed chapel known as the “Sistine Chapel of Friuli”, Porta Gemona, designed in 1579 by Andrea Palladio in a tower which is a relic of the old medieval castle, the Biblioteca Guarneriana. This is the oldest library in Friuli Venezia Giulia and one of the first public libraries in Europe, established 1466 with a collection of 12.000 antique volumes including a rare edition of Dante’s Inferno from 14th Century.
